5000 STEPS TO HEALTH
Definitely, sport helps to maintain health, develops endurance, and trains willpower. But active sports are not suitable for all of us due to age, temperament or lack of time. However, just walking can be as beneficial to the body as basketball, wrestling, athletics or other active sports.
A definite plus of walking is that it is accessible and easy for almost anyone. Walking does not require a gym, special equipment and a lot of free time, all you need is comfortable clothes and shoes and a desire to feel good. How many steps should a person take per day? In fact, it all depends on age and health status. There are no exact numbers. For someone, walking 1000 steps is already a feat, while someone easily walks 15,000 and 20,000 steps without feeling tired.Based on many researches conducted by the World Health Organization, it has been calculated that walking 6 km or 10,000 steps a day will help prevent the development of a number of diseases. The science is clear - walking is good for our health, longevity, well-being, offers the least risk of injury, and allows you to burn a noticeable amount of calories. The development of sports among young people is a priority in the system of higher education. It should be noted that this task is reflected in the Five Initiatives of the President of Uzbekistan, where the second initiative includes the involvement of young people in physical education and sports.
In this regard, as well as within the framework of the effective organization of students' leisure, on April 9, 2022, the Department of Physical Education and Sports, the Department of “Manaviyat and Marifat” and Youth Work in cooperation with the “Alpomish” makhalla of Mirzo Ulugbek district held a walking marathon “5000 steps to health” at the mahalla stadium. Along with the students of the Branch, residents of the makhalla of different ages participated in the marathon.
After the walking marathon, the participants had a sports warm-up aimed at improving their health.
Daily walking helps not only to harden the body and increase immunity, but also helps to resist colds. In general, walking increases the body’s endurance and can even slow down the aging process.
