International Day of Disabled People

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh.M.Mirziyoyev in the Action Strategy for the five priority areas of development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017–2021 has highlighted a social sphere as one of the priorities which ensures “strengthening social protection of vulnerable groups of the population and public support for the elderly and persons with disabilities”.

On December 1, 2017 the Decree №5270 “On measures for radical improvement of the system of state support for persons with disabilities” was adopted. This Decree has outlined a set of measures to improve the situation of people with disabilities in our country and set the objective of ratifying the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

December 3 is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and within the framework of this day, Z.F. Uzakova, a Senior Lecturer of the Social and Humanitarian Disciplines Department held a number of relevant events with the students.

On December 5, 2018 she held a training seminar on the topic “Walking in the darkness” during which third-year students listened to a short lecture course, took an active part in the lesson and felt the feelings of people with disabilities.

At the end of the seminar, students expressed the opinion that the training enabled to realize the complexity of the perception of information to students with disabilities, the presence of barriers in movement, discussed the stereotypes of society in relation to people with disabilities.

On December 11, 2018, students with a teacher visited the dance performance of the theater “Lik Movement”, “White gulls over the blue lake” with the participation of young people with disabilities and professional actors.

The quest on the topic “Social stratification. Marginals ” was held among students on December 12, 2018. The quest was presented in the form of the teamwork which enabled to develop erudition, search and solve problems in an unusual way, solve logical problems, and, consequently, generalize the material studied within the framework of the “Sociology” academic subject.
