Signing the Memorandum of Understanding with the Agency for Promoting Foreign Language Learning under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan
On February 23, 2021 the Branch of the Russian State University of Oil and Gas (NRU) named after I.M. Gubkin in Tashkent hosted the meeting between the Executive Director of the Branch A. Magrupov and the Deputy Director of the Agency for Promoting Foreign Language Learning under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan A. Khusanov.
During the negotiations, the ways of bilateral cooperation between the Branch and the Agency for for Promoting Foreign Language Learning in the field of organizing various events to promote the study of English in specialties have been discussed within the framework of the tasks set in the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan № PR-5117 dated May 19, 2021 “On measures to raising to a qualitatively new level activities to promote the study of foreign languages in the Republic of Uzbekistan”, holding joint international conferences, symposiums, round tables with the participation of parties or invited foreign experts, as well as joint organization of qualification upgrading courses for the faculty in non-philological universities for teaching ESP (English for Specific Purposes), which will ultimately help to improve the level of English proficiency of the students of the Branch - future specialists in the oil and gas industry of Uzbekistan.
In addition to discussing the possibilities of bilateral cooperation, the delegation of the Agency also participated in a working meeting of the Department of Foreign Languages with K. Tangirova (University of Warwick, UK), which was devoted to discussing the teaching of ESP (English for Specific Purposes) within the framework of the project UzTESPING (Group of mutual exchange of experience of teachers of non-philological higher educational institutions in Uzbekistan). During this meeting, representatives of the Agency shared their experience in using foreign language skills testing, and also introduced the teachers of the department to the latest types of testing.
During the visit, the delegation of the Agency for Promoting Foreign Language Learning attended an English class at the preparatory courses held within the framework of the Education and Training Center for future applicants and highly appreciated the opportunities created for the students.
As a result of the meeting and negotiations, the Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Branch of Russian State University of Oil and Gas (NRU) named after I.M. Gubkin in Tashkent and the Agency for Promoting Foreign Language Learning under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
