Career Marathon from the SPE Student Section of the Branch

At the end of the last week, the SPE Student Section team ran a three-day career marathon that was not only rewarding, but incredibly rich in content. The most pressing questions for students are the aspects of drawing up a resume, passing interviews, writing motivation letters and the role and significance of letters of recommendation are interesting. At the marathon, the above issues were raised. Moreover, the lecturers during the meetings were some of the best specialists and students of the Branch.

The first day of the marathon was devoted to the question facing each student: how to correctly compose a resume that will be read. The guest of the meeting was Ramilya Fazlieva, a specialist from the human resources department of Lukoil Uzbekistan Operating Company (LUOC), who spoke about the main stages of writing a high-quality resume. Thanks to her, the listeners were able to understand how important it is to correctly build the structure and even design this document. As a result of the meeting, each listener discovered that an ordinary resume requires great responsibility and attention to detail.

Также следует отметить, что резюме следует отличать от CV, ведь первое – это краткое описание вашего бэкграунда, а резюме - билет на интервью.

The second day of the marathon was devoted to the interview stage. An interview is the second stage in employment, when the employer gets acquainted with your resume and is aware of your achievements. If a candidate is invited for an interview, then they are interested in him, so you should not spoil the impression and focus on your strengths. Anna Siligadze, HR Director of TBC UZ, spoke about this, sharing her many years of experience in conducting interviews.

Anna described the entire process of interviews, listed typical mistakes of respondents and told what the secret of successful interviews is. She stressed that each company has its own requirements and its own style of interviewing - therefore, it is necessary to prepare in advance. Moreover, the applicant should also ask all his questions regarding the work process, because you need not only to convince employers that you are the very candidate for the position, but also to find out for yourself whether the conditions are right for you. Therefore, when leaving, be sure to ask yourself whether you have received answers to all your questions.

The final meeting of the marathon was hosted by the President of the SPE Student Section, Omon Ochilov, who is a multiple participant and winner of various international scholarships. When submitting documents for any programs or educational institutions, it is a mandatory requirement to write a motivation letter that reflects the history of the applicant, describes his strengths and indicates the reason why he is worthy of the vacancy.

At this meeting, the requirements for motivation and recommendation letters, the rules for writing them and building a structure were announced. As Omon mentioned, a well-written letter is a great opportunity to present yourself and be remembered by the selection committee. After all, when several candidates with an equal number of points apply for one place at once, they will choose the one who best reveals their strengths in the letter. The following cases were analyzed: a motivation letter from Omon, who won a Latvian government scholarship, and a letter of recommendation, which successfully served for the Global UGRAD program.

On a positive note, a three-day career marathon from the student section was completed, at the end of which 18 participants who attended each meeting received certificates.
