Branch Basketball: Faster, Higher, Stronger

In the Year of Health Promotion, the closest attention in the Branch of the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (NRU) in Tashkent is paid to the popularization of student sports, in particular, basketball.  

A friendly meeting among girls: forward to health!

The participants in a friendly basketball match among the students of the Branch and students of the Lyceum, which took place in the Sports Hall of the Branch, received a charge of cheerfulness and good mood from the game.

  The student basketball team included second-year athletes from the UGF-19-01 and UGI-19-01 groups: these are Otojonova Shakhlo, Nurmukhamedova Lola, Rakhmatova Nigina, Muzafarova Aziza, Akhmedova Nargiza, Zakhidova Khonzoda, Irgasheva Odina, Magrupova Ziyoda.

According to the teacher of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Branch Irina Skulkova, such basketball matches between the girls' teams of the Branch and the Lyceum have become a good long-term tradition: they contribute to team cohesion, are a real holiday of sports and bring great health benefits, in the first place.

We add that the high standard of the friendly match was largely given by the strict and highly qualified refereeing of the branch teacher Dilshodbek Ubaidullaev.

Success in the Cup of Uzbekistan and the championship of the republic.

A significant achievement of the basketball players-students of the Branch was the second place in the Cup of Uzbekistan in Samarkand and participation at the present time in the championship of the republic in Navoi.

In Samarkand, the honorable second place in the Uzbekistan Cup among men's basketball teams, students of the Branch Arsen Askaryants (URG-18-02) and Vitaly Yushkov (UTS-17-02) won as part of the “Uzelektroapparat” team, which is a multiple winner of the republic’s championships, the champion Of Uzbekistan 2020.

In total, eight strongest teams from all regions of the republic competed for the prestigious awards of the Cup of the country in Samarkand.

In preparation for the competition, a meeting and a master class of the students of the Branch with the champion of the Olympic Games in Seoul-1988 Alexander Volkov took place.

All the years the students of Gubkin became champions of the Spartakiad in basketball among the branches of foreign universities in Uzbekistan. The successful long-term “golden” relay seems to be no coincidence, because the team’s mentor - senior coach of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports Ruslan Aiderovich Abdurakhmanov is also a repeated winner of international competitions and championships of the republic.

Currently, the students of the Branch are participating in the championship of Uzbekistan among men’s teams in Navoi.
