A student of the Branch from Bukhara won the bronze medal of the Kurash Cup

Third-year student Farrukh Bakhronov (URB-18-02) of the Branch of the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (NRU) named after I.M. Gubkin in Tashkent won an honorable third place and a bronze medal in his weight category at the competition for the Cup of the Minister of Higher and Secondary Special Education on kurash wrestling among the universities of the capital.

Competitions in the national sport were held at the Tashkent State University of Law on March 9-10, 2021.

The sports tournament was held in compliance with the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the aim of developing and further increasing the international authority of the national sport of kurash, strengthening the sense of patriotism among young people by supporting and encouraging their interest in national sports and by order of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Over 200 strongest wrestlers-students from 24 higher educational institutions of the city of Tashkent took part in the responsible championship, in the weight categories 60, 66.73, 81, 90, 100 and + 100 kg.

The performance of the “Gubkins” at the Cup was preceded by preliminary work: the department “Mainaviat va Marifat” and on work with youth informed the students of the Branch about the upcoming competitions of kurash, conducted introductory talks about the history of the formation and development of the legendary national sport in the new Uzbekistan. The Department of Physical Education and Sport has identified the strongest wrestlers who have the skills of kurash wrestling, and formed the combined team of the Branch to participate in the tournament. The kurash sports team of the Branch included:

- Akmal Normurodov (Kashkadarya region) from the UTS-18-01 group, education profile "Construction and repair of pipeline transport facilities",

- Nodir Nazarov (Kashkadarya region) - URG-18-01 group, direction "Operation and maintenance of gas production facilities, gas condensate and underground storage facilities ",

- Farrukh Bakhronov (Bukhara region) - group URB-18-02 "Drilling of oil and gas wells".

According to the results of weighing and the drawing of lots, the panel of judges determined the participants in the fights.

Akmal Normurodov, Nodir Nazarov fought in the weight category up to 73 kg, Farrukh Bakhronov - up to 66 kg.

As part of the student tournament, Farrukh Bakhronov had four fights, won three of them and reached the semifinals, where he won the prize - third place.

“With great joy I participated in kurash competitions,” shares his opinion the bronze medalist of the Cup among the universities of the capital - a student from the Bukhara region Bakhronov Farrukh. - I have been interested in kurash since childhood, and since the age of 13 I have been engaged in freestyle wrestling, because in our family my uncles and grandfather, Bobokul Bakhronov, were engaged in this sport. He was not only a coach, but also a champion. Now he is gone, but I always wanted to become like my grandfather, I wanted to be like him in everything!
