Arm wrestling: revealed the strongest
The results of the qualifying round competitions were summed up in the Sports Hall of the Branch of the Russian State University of Oil and Gas (NRU) named after I.M. Gubkin in Tashkent: the team of the Arm wrestling which will defend the honor of the university in sports events of the city and the republic of the Branch has been formed.
Arm wrestling is a fairly new direction in sports training at the Branch. The initiator of the introduction of the popular sport was the senior lecturer of the department "Physical Education and Sport", a master of sports in handball Evgeniy Iskhakbaev, who organized the installation of professional equipment and training of students. Future oil industry workers found the sporting innovation relevant and urgent: the number of people wishing to engage in this sport grew over a short period, and soon the students of the “Gubkin” university confidently expressed themselves, taking an honorable second place in annual competitions among branches of foreign universities in Uzbekistan.
A total of number of students participating in the selection was 17 people: these were Sokhor Tokhirov, Amirkhan Rakhimov (URB-19-01), Doston Khamdamov (URN-19-01), Saidamin Rakhimov, Nurdaulet Abdullaev (URG-19-01), Azamat Amonov (UTS-19 -01), Abdusamatov Amir, Abbasov Miralvis (URN-19-01), Nabizhonov Zikrio, Saidov Said (UTS-19-01), Boymirzaev Akhror (URN-19-01), Mirzaakhmedov Jolol (URG-19-01), Nematullaev Ibrokhim (URG-19-02), Kurbanbaev Erkin (URB-19-02).
Competitions were held in four weight categories: up to 60 kg, up to 75 kg, up to 85 kg and over 85 kg.

As a result, following the results of the competition, the Branch team included: Olimov Umarbek (UTS-19-02), Abdullaev Nurdaulet (URG-19-01), Nabizhonov Zikriye (UTS-19-01), Kurbanbaev Erkin (URB-19-02), Tokhirov Sindor (URB-19-01), Tokhirov Zhamol (UGI-17-01).
As the chief judge of the competition, senior lecturer Yevgeniy Iskhakbaev has said that armwrestling is popular due to its democratic nature: you do not need a separate room for the competition, you only need a special table with two pins to rest your hands, and this special equipment was organized on its own.
- This is the most honest kind of struggle, when in a decent fight it is possible to show your strength and dexterity. Arm wrestling also helps to self-discipline, as success comes from daily work. Arm wrestling at the Branch has successful development ahead: selection for the national team has given rise to future victories, commented students participating in the competitions.
