At the International Conference "Aral Sea Area - Zone of Environmental Innovations and Technologies" in Nukus, Director of the Branch of the Russian State University of Oil and Gas (NRU) named after I.M. Gubkin in Tashkent, Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences Alexander Maksimenko, associate professor of the department of development and operation of oil fields, Ph.D. Alexey Dengaev presented the results of their own innovative research.

The world eco-forum brought together well-known environmental experts, soil scientists, hydrologists and other experts who examined in detail the most important problem of our time.

In their presentation “Adaptive-landscape approach for obtaining soil modifiers for the restoration of technologically disturbed territories”, the speakers spoke about the results of the research conducted by the Branch and the Russian State University of Oil and Gas (NRU) named after I.M. Gubkin as part of the annual expedition to the drained bottom of the Aral Sea, which was held in September-October this year. Oksana Ostakh, Sergey Ostakh, assistant and associate professor at the Department of Industrial Ecology, also directly participated in the development of innovation.

In the performance of Section IV, “Prevention of Desertification, Ecological Migration and the Development of Ecotourism,” scientists from the Gubkin University presented innovative proposals for the special treatment of halophilic plant seeds with the aim of increasing their germination and survival on the dried bottom of the Aral Sea. The authors of the report also considered a number of other promising areas of joint scientific cooperation.

Following the discussion of the report, the parties decided to continue the successful development that had begun on test sites in Nukus and directly on the territory of the former Aral Sea.

Full restoration of the Aral Sea is no longer possible, however, it seems realistic to minimize the negative effects of salt-sand storms on the health of millions of people living in this region of the republic, which are promoted by scientific studies of the experts of the International Conference “Aral Sea - Zone of Environmental Innovations and technology.
