Protecting young people from information threats

On March 3, 2021, a training seminar was held at academic lyceum under the Branch on the problem of protecting young people from information threats. 2-year students, as well as  teachers of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines attended this meeting.

During the seminar, attention was focused on the fundamental categories of the information space, the influence of the infosphere on human activity. It was noted, that the information environment creates the basis for individual and social consciousness through information resources such as technical means, software, formation, storage, processing and transmission of information, etc. In this regard, information security measures among the population, especially young people, and protecting them from threats are relevant.

The speakers noted that today the state’s provision of information security, the protection of the physical, mental and moral development of boys and girls, as well as human dignity in all audiovisual media services and electronic media is a requirement of international law and legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The priority objectives in this area related to protecting young people from negative information disseminated in information and telecommunication networks, as well as preparing them for a possible meeting with such information, were emphasized. Solving this problem requires coordinated action at all levels from family to the entire nation.

According to experts, the most efficient mechanism of information security for young people can be the formation of information culture of everyone, the development of the ability to recognize and resist negative information in the Internet space and the media, the formation of skills of responsible and safe behavior in the modern information and telecommunications environment through training in ways to protect against harmful information.

To this end, conversations, workshops, psychological trainings and other activities are held to reduce the level of anxiety among young people, form adequate self-esteem, skills of safe behavior in situations that threaten their life and health.

The seminar, held in the format of a training session on media security, was aimed at enhancing information literacy and culture, overcoming legal nihilism among young people, and developing skills for a healthy and safe lifestyle.

In conclusion, the students of the seminar asked the specialists questions of interest regarding the determination of their own spiritual and moral priorities and worldview in general.
