Implementation of international standards for teaching English at the Branch

Current reality is that Uzbekistan is actively integrating into the world education system. Fundamental changes that have affected all spheres of socio-political, social, economic and cultural life are reflected in the system of higher education in Uzbekistan, which has entered the world arena. Entering the number of developed, democratic states, providing its people with favorable conditions for life and prosperity, taking a worthy place in the world community is one of the national strategic goals. To accomplish the tasks set, it is necessary to prepare competitive, creative specialists, who can fluently speak foreign languages.

In particular, in order to develop teaching foreign languages ​​as a priority area of ​​educational policy, radically improve the quality of education in this area, attract qualified teachers to the field and increase the interest of the population in learning foreign languages, on May 19, 2021, the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan №PR-5117 “On measures to raise to a qualitatively new level of activities to popularize the study of foreign languages ​​in the Republic of Uzbekistan”, in compliance with which a number of priority tasks have been determined. In particular, this decree pays great attention to the need for proficiency in English at the appropriate level for teachers of foreign languages ​​and teachers of non-philological areas.

An international training seminar on the topic “How to develop speaking skills in the process of preparing for IELTS exam”, which was held at the Branch on December 2, 2021, was devoted to this relevant topic, namely, how to accurately and effectively develop speaking skills in preparation for passing the exam for the corresponding certificate (IELTS / CEFR).

The training seminar for teachers and students of the Branch, as well as teachers and students of the sponsored academic lyceum was conducted by Nodira Isamukhamedova, Ph.D., Master of Arts in Teaching English TESOL from the University of Leeds in the UK, certified by the Association of Teachers in Canada & nbsp. Nowadays Nodira Isamukhamedova works at TESL Ontario as an international teacher of English, a student of the “Project Management of the University of Toronto in Canada” program. N. Isamukhamedova possesses more than 20 years of teaching, methodological and research experience in the field of teaching English, online education, developing curricula and materials. She is the author and co-author of several articles, textbooks and study guides on the English language and teaching and learning methodology. In addition, Nodira Isamukhamedova is also the founder of the & nbsp; ELT Uz and Mentor Hub, designed to provide professional methodological support to teachers.

During the training seminar, held in an interactive format, such issues as how to effectively prepare for the Speaking section in preparation for the IELTS were discussed. At the seminar, N. Isamukhamedova revealed the peculiarities of the methodology, which makes it possible to most effectively prepare the component of oral speech. In her presentation, Nodira Isamuhamedova emphasized what exactly should be paid attention to when answering verbally during the IELTS test, and what typical mistakes are made that result in a decrease in the mark.

The topic of the seminar attracted great interest among its participants, who at the end asked a lot of questions of interest to N. Isamukhamedova and expressed gratitude for the event. In addition, it should be noted that holding such events also contributes to the formation of an English-speaking environment, which is especially important in the framework of the implementation of the “Action Plan for the implementation of the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan” dated May 19, 2021 №PR-1751 “On measures to raise the a qualitatively new level of activities to popularize the study of foreign languages ​​in the Republic of Uzbekistan”, which determines the priority measures aimed at improving the study of the English language in the Branch.
