The meeting on the topic “Innovative Methods for Monitoring Pipeline Systems” has been organized

On October 29, 2021 the Branch of the Russian State University of Oil and Gas (NRU) named after IM Gubkin in Tashkent has delivered the seminar on the topic “Innovative Methods for Monitoring Pipeline Systems”. The master class was delivered for students of the "Oil and Gas Business" subject area.by Professor Shahzod Takhirov, a leading scholar at the University of California, Berkeley (USA).

At the present stage, the economic stability and development of the Republic of Uzbekistan is provided mainly due to the oil and gas industry of the fuel and energy complex, therefore one of the country's priority tasks is to increase its profitability. This is achieved not only by increasing the efficiency of operation, commissioning new fields, but also ensuring industrial, environmental safety and reliability of the industry, which requires innovative methods of monitoring, assessing, forecasting and optimizing the state of high-pressure pipeline systems transporting oil and gas.

“New Uzbekistan” on a global scale testifies to the recognition that in recent years we have entered a completely new stage of development - transformations and achievements. They say, “The greatest wealth is the knowledge and profession acquired in youth”. The faculty of the department “Professional disciplines” together with Professor Tokhirov Shahzod helped the students to get closer to their future profession. In his speech, the professor covered a truly significant thematic section of the methodology of analytical mechanics, new methods, technologies for identifying problems in the oil and gas industry, in particular, the use of fiber-optic sensors in determining the dynamic loads of pipelines, and the LUNA software.

According to the speaker, research in this area is extremely in demand among American companies that are major customers for such projects. The research laboratory of the University of Berkeley is engaged in the development and creation of monitoring of the state of pipeline systems. According to the scientist, the solution of these tasks is applicable in the conditions of Uzbekistan and, who knows, it is quite likely that they will be implemented by the students of the Branch.

“surveys I conducted earlier showed that the Gubkins are very talented, perfectly trained professionally”, believes world-renowned researcher. Shahzod Tokhirov himself is a native of Tashkent, a graduate of the Tashkent State University, where he studied at the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics. Having won a grant, the talented specialist left for the USA, where he has worked for 24 years.

“Currently is such a period that it is no longer possible to be only a student, but it is necessary to start working in companies, in production during study: to master and reach a professional level of activity”,- the scientist believes.

Upon completion of the master class, Professor Shahzod Tokhirov answered the questions of students. Having familiarized themselves with foreign experience, the students correctly noted that the disciplines read to students: theoretical mechanics, resistance of materials, theory of machines and mechanisms, structural technology of machines, hydraulics and machine parts are not only important in their profession, but also the global languages of the technical community.
