Abstract

The highly neodymium doped transparent ceramic YAG laser materials are examined to apply in solar-to-laser-power conversion by Monte-Carlo ray-tracing simulation method. It is shown that the use of highly doped ceramic Nd:YAG laser materials in solar pumped disc lasers increases the solar-to-laser-power conversion efficiency in comparison to commonly used 1% at Nd:YAG.
