On May 9, Uzbekistan celebrates the Day of Memory and Honor, a holiday of light sadness, reverent respect, pride, deep gratitude and respect.
Uzbekistan made an invaluable contribution to the victory over fascism. A large number of Uzbeks gave all their strength, working in the rear, Uzbek families took evacuated children, evacuated enterprises provided reliable support to the front. During the difficult years of the war, the country lost more than 450,000 sons.
On this memorable day, all residents of the country, like millions of people around the world, congratulate veterans: in all cities there are festive concerts, large meals, charity events, and honorary awards.
On May 4, 2018, the student asset of the Branch of the Russian State University of Oil and Gas (NRU) named after I.M. Gubkin in Tashkent, with the support of the branch's management, conducted a charitable trip to the homes of veterans of the war and workers of the rear. During the charity event, the students visited the homes of 10 veterans, presented them with food packages, congratulated them on the coming holiday and wished them good health.
