Raising legal awareness and legal culture among young people

On December 6 the Branch of the Russian State University of Oil and Gas (NRU) named after I.M. Gubkin in Tashkent, within the framework of the month of legal literacy, among students of 1-2 courses of academic groups UEE-17-01-02, UTP-18-01 held a meeting to raise the legal awareness and legal culture of youth. The meeting was attended by Doctor of Law, Professor of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy Isa Akhlimanovich Khamedov, the faculty staff, academic supervisors of the Branch.

In his speech, Khamedov I.A. noted that the importance of state policy in the field of youth education lies in providing it with the opportunity to obtain the necessary amount of theoretical and practical knowledge, providing guarantees for the independent thinking of young people, and in general, is to educate a healthy and full-fledged generation. The adoption in our country of many significant documents aimed at creating legal, socio-economic, organizational conditions for the realization of the abilities of gifted youth, the development of their creative, scientific or other talent serves to ensure the above goals. The state youth program has identified the most important tasks related to the implementation of the goals of raising the legal awareness and legal culture of the younger generation.

The specialist emphasized that the realization in reality of the rights and freedoms defined in the Basic Law, as well as in the current legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, is a process that is inextricably linked with the definition of a worthy place in society by young people and the improvement of their legal culture. In this area, the Ministry of Justice in cooperation with the relevant ministries, organizations and institutions, on the basis of cooperation plans, carry out a lot of demonstration work.

It was emphasized at the meeting that young people’ awareness about the current legislation and the ability to put this knowledge into practice is an important means of building a legal democratic state based on the principles of civil society, raising the legal awareness and legal culture of the population.

During the discussion, students and teachers studied in detail the issues related to the place of the judiciary and law enforcement agencies in conducting local legal advocacy, problems of legal education and upbringing in higher and secondary special educational institutions, general education institutions, as well as issues of enhancing the efficiency of legal advocacy among young people.
