Improving the status of Uzbekistan in the fight against human trafficking and forced labor

On December 6, at the Branch of the Russian State University of Oil and Gas (NRU) named after I.M. Gubkin in Tashkent a seminar was held on enhancing the country's status in the fight against human trafficking and forced by labor among the students of 4 courses of academic groups UTP-17-01-02. The seminar was attended by representatives of the anti-trafficking department of the main department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Lt. Col. Saidazimov Said Fazliddinovich, Lt. Col. Khojaeva Zukhra Adhamovna, as well as the faculty members, supervisors of academic groups of the Branch.                                                                                

In their speeches, experts noted that over recent years, a comprehensive work has been carried out in the republic to protect the rights and legitimate interests of citizens, and to reform the judicial system. Comprehensive measures have been undertaken for the early prevention of crime and the fight against crime, including in such a priority area as combating trafficking in persons and eradicating forced labor.

Khodjaeva Z.A. emphasized that efficient measures have been undertaken to identify, protect and socially rehabilitate victims of human trafficking in our country, as well as to provide medical, psychological and other assistance to citizens. Child labor has been eradicated, measures are being taken to stop the use of forced labor by adults during agricultural work, landscaping and landscaping. Work is underway to ensure interaction with representatives of civil society and foreign non-governmental organizations in this field.

Saidazimov S.F. stated that a number of negative factors, such as the lack of proper interagency cooperation between the competent authorities, the failure to bring objective and reliable information about the work being done in this direction to the general public, and the incompatibility of the legislative base with international standards.

Speakers noted that our country tries to do its best to eradicate this problem. A national committee has been set up to combat human trafficking and forced labor, and tasks have been identified for monitoring, analysis, evaluation and effective measures to counteract, study the practice of detecting, investigating, preventing and combating crimes in this area. The measures taken are aimed at improving the status of our country in the international arena.
