Nowadays the problem of corruption in the system of higher education and science has assumed not a local, but already a global scale. So, according to UNESCO, corruption in universities is causing serious damage to the education system around the world: the future of young people is in doubt, inaction can lead to disastrous consequences.

What measures are undertaken to eliminate the negative phenomenon at the Branch of the Russian State University (NRU) of oil and gas named after I.M. Gubkin in Tashkent:

High quality education eradicates corruption

The leader of our state named the low professional level of personnel, their knowledge, education and devotion as one of the main national threats to Uzbekistan. As Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized, we are creating a new Uzbekistan in all directions, and current methods of our work are absolutely not at our level, if you do not change, the situation will not change.

Improving the quality of education among the universities of the republic is accepted as a basis in the Branch. The educational process here is carried out in compliance with the educational programs adopted at the Russian State University of Oil and Gas named after I.M. Gubkin (Head University) and generally accepted international requirements for the quality of professional training. From the first year students of the Branch participate in all kinds of practices and carry out research activities on the basis of the leading industrial production enterprises of the republic, where, for example, in Karshi this year for the first time they received the working professions of assistant drilling foreman, electric welder.

The guarantor of the reliability of knowledge and training of students was the faculty of the Branch, which not only continued the traditions of the Russian higher technical school, but also formed distinctive forms and methods that meet the needs of the oil and gas industry of Uzbekistan. Experienced tutors by personal example demonstrate high professional skill, a scientific approach to training, generously share knowledge.

It is important to note that the Branch has formed a team of employees with extensive experience in senior positions in the leading industrial enterprises of the country: this ensures the communication and focus of the educational process on the demands and requirements of the labor market.

Since its creation, the final indicator of professional training at the Branch has become more than a thousand highly qualified university graduates who work in the national oil and gas and petrochemical industries: they are involved in the development of oil and gas fields, drilling wells, are engaged in the operation and maintenance, economics and management of facilities and enterprises. But the most important thing is not only the amount of creative work done, but the fact that the Branch lives and develops, and many more highly qualified specialists for the oil and gas industry of Uzbekistan will come out of its walls.

Monitoring and control of the activities of the Branch is performed simultaneously at several levels, including by organizing the Public Council of the Branch.

The university’s website gubkin.uz provides such sections as: “Independent assessment of the education quality”, which contains eight quality certificates, “Reports of the Branch’s activities”, “Anti-corruption”, “Alumni Club”, where a special section “Diploma Verification” functions.

The “Helpline” was launched to ensure the transparency of the functioning of the Branch of the Russian State University of Oil and Gas (NRU) named after I.M. Gubkin in Tashkent.

The introduction of advanced IT technologies has become a significant factor in the activities of the Branch.

In particular, the online defense of the thesis of graduates of the Branch is broadcast online.

In addition, the heads and leading experts of organizations and enterprises of the oil and gas industry of Uzbekistan are compulsory appointed chairmen of the State Examination Commissions.

The Open International Student Olympiad, the Federal Internet Examination for Bachelors at the Branch, which is the base platform of these prestigious international online certification competitions, can also serve as another outstanding example.

Transparency has become a top priority for the admission campaign. In this regard it became possible to observe the process of filing documents thanks to installed monitors, on the day of exams - to follow the procedure for viewing works and appeals. All current information was posted on the Branch website, duplicated on the stands, thanks to which applicants received quick and clear answers.

All these measures enable not only to provide efficient anti-corruption, but also radically eliminate the negative phenomenon.
