On the difficulties of chemistry - in the club "Free Radicals"

At the Branch of the Russian State University of Oil and Gas (NRU) named after I.M. Gubkin in the city of Tashkent, students master subject disciplines in the framework of numerous clubs, including the “Free Radicals” in the department of the “General Chemistry and Oil and Gas Chemistry” department.

The recent meeting for the first-year students was held on October 18, 2019. Participants on practical examples examined the atomic structurein detail, chemical bonds, the main classes of inorganic substances, and also worked out methods for solving problems according to stoichiometric laws.

The leader of the club, a third-year student TimurIsmailov, showed the freshmen how to solve dozens of tasks of the first intermediate progress test, answered the questions they were interested inon the conducted lessons’ materials of the discipline General Chemistry.

It is noteworthy that in the club lesson they used new multimedia equipment. Modern technical equipment helped freshmen to learn the physical and chemical properties of acids, bases, oxides and salts, they also learned how to depict electronic and electronic-graphic formulas of atoms and ions of these elements, using the rules for filling electrons in energy levels and sublevels, to recognize the type of chemical bond between atoms.

As the acting assistant professor of the department “General Chemistry and Chemistry of Oil and Gas” Ph.D. Navbakhor Abdurakhmanova commented on, classes within the framework of the club "Free Radicals" are held for students of all courses. It is aimed to help them to look into lecture topics and learn complex professional terms by solving practical problems, and the new technical equipment helps to make the cognitive process convenient and attractive.
